Our Purpose:
Great Lakes Recreation Leaders Lab, Inc. is organized exclusively for educational purposes. The organization encourages, fosters, and promotes constructive recreation. A recreation laboratory is held annually where members are given a chance to study, practice, exchange ideas and generally share an experience in living recreation. GLRLL is a non-profit, tax-exempt educational organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Michigan. Members of the board of directors are volunteers who are elected by those in attendance at the annual five day lab.

Philosophy and Objectives:
Great Lakes Recreation Leaders Lab (GLRLL) offers an opportunity for persons of any age over fifteen to acquire and/or develop skills and confidence in the use of recreation as a vital process in human development. An important feature is the chance for each participant to develop a personally meaningful philosophy of recreation. GLRLL uses the following objectives to meet this philosophy:

1.    Leadership Development: To develop techniques for leadership
through the guidance of skilled resource staff.

2.    Professional Development: To learn through involvement and
     participation.

3.    Recreation Skills: To allow creative self-expression through arts,
crafts, role playing, ceremonies, dance and other recreational
     experiences.

4.    Sharing: To exchange thoughts and ideas about leadership skills
and techniques and values of creative use of leisure time.

5.    Personal Growth: To enable participants to become more aware of
     their own and others’ capabilities.

6.    Fellowship: To enjoy wholesome fun with wonderful people.
